Welcome to Moonahbees. This started as a small apiary located in the pristine coastal environment of Barwon Heads. The bees forage on coastal moonah, now confined in its distribution to the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsula coastal strips and on coastal ti tree, native to South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria. The nectar from these unique trees produces a delicious, distinctive-flavoured honey.
Like most other beekeepers, the passion for keeping bees has taken hold and the hives and apiaries have expanded considerably. Now the main apiaries are at Wallingford and Barwon Heads, with other hives at Warragul and Mollongghip. I also have a strong association with the Beekeepers Club in Melbourne, having been secretary and now training officer and so am involved with the management of the club hives in Heidelberg too.
