A beautiful queen from Kangaroo Island – where the Ligurian bees have been genetically isolated since 1885. So these are the purest strain of Italian bees obtainable anywhere in the world. I’m using them for my breeding stock.
Mollongghip community hall for a demonstration of crush and strain. The combs are from the hives at the farm, so this is truly local honey – from 1 km away!
From a compost bin into a plastic hive. Subsequent inspection reveals that we lost the queen, which explains the behaviour of the bees seen here. They made some beautiful queen cells from the eggs and larvae that we saved, so the colony was saved.
